- The Hybrid III Anthropomorphic Test Dummy is an inanimate mechanical device, but one which is very complex from the standpoint of response under varying conditions. In order to make both calibration and crash-test responses as uniform as possible, a methodology has been adopted of finding the effect of each variable in the multi-parameter sub-systems of the dummy and of controlling each as found necessary. This is an ongoing program which deals with several dummy tests, but currently excludes tests for which stable test conditions have not yet been achieved. The results to date indicate that further work, can bring experimental Hybrid III testing and use to routine levels.
