- Minimizing safety risks and manpower cost while maximizing system performance and productivity are reasonable and achievable national goals only If adequate attention is given to human performance capabilities and limitations. The Army has developed and is currently implementing a program MANPRINT (Manpower and Personnel Integration) which seeks to enhance total system performance and reliability through human factors policy improvements regarding Army materiel acquisition. The paper describes the program with its potential ramifications for human error avoidance. It also notes some of the Army's recent efforts in operator workload and safety research.
