Abstract
Content
The International Space Station (ISS) is designed by multiple parties and constructed while on orbit. These two characteristics of the ISS underscore a need for an integrated approach to human factors engineering. Such an integrated approach is currently being facilitated by the Human Engineering Technical Review (HETR). This paper reports the results of a HETR on restraint and mobility hardware for ISS and presents some observations and recommendations developed to address the challenges of designing for a space environment.
