- Lockheed-Georgia Company for some years has realized the importance of placing major emphasis on requirements definition and technology development associated with future tactical airlifters. The emerging battle doctrine for force multiplication establishes that highly mobile integrated air and land forces will be required to operate within enemy territory -- landing and taking off from austere fields day or night -- independent of weather and survive.This paper describes the Lockheed High Technology Test Bed, its mission and objectives -- Airborne Test Bed for System Integration of Advanced STOL, Survivability, Advanced Cockpit, and Electronics Flight Systems technologies. Status of the Test Bed as of today with discussions of future plans is included in this paper.
