High Efficiency Cockpit Instrument Lamp Dimmers, An Overview

Cockpit instrument lamp dimmers are specialized DC-DC, AC-DC, or DC-AC converters which provide controlled power to incandescent, EL, or LED instrument and cabin lights. These dimmers are controlled by a command voltage, a programming resistor, a potentiometer, or a combination of these methods to provide controlled and conditioned power to the aircraft lighting loads. In addition to cockpit instrument uses, these lamp controllers can be used for cabin lighting, task lighting, mood lighting, and marker/signal lighting.
