Pankl Aerospace Systems Inc. has applied its extensive experience as an aerospace supplier in manufacturing of helicopter transmission parts and systems to evaluate a possible future rotary wing aircraft concept. The "H.E.R.O." concept, which stands for Helicopter Equipped with Reconnaissance and Onslaught, incorporates a series of challenging optimization goals which in this specific combination make sense and ultimately might evolve into a new type of aircraft. Pankl Aerospace experimented with a radical approach toward new materials and cockpit philosophy, utilizing the newest innovation methods and bionic phenomena. Pankl Aerospace's H.E.R.O concept has 3 Modules: New Fuselage Material, Drivetrain with Four Rotors, and Ease-of-Use which will be discussed in this paper. Pankl Aerospace's goal is to evaluate the feasibility of certain aspects within the three modules and define development goals for future R&D.
