- Gamma (γ) phase zinc nickel electrodeposited from alkaline electrolytes possesses excellent sacrificial corrosion resistance in the 12-15wt% nickel range. By isolating anode and anolyte the efficiency of the process may be improved and byproducts avoided. By varying additives the mechanical properties and luster of the deposit may be controlled. The results of Hull cell tests, high-resolution field emission SEM, X-ray diffraction, accelerated corrosion testing, corrosion product analysis, wear testing, torque tension testing, cylindrical mandrel bend testing, micro-hardness, and nano-mechanical indentation testing with different alkaline electrolyte γ phase ZnNi processes are presented.
