- This paper describes development of an electrically conductive plastic material and its application in the manufacturing of fuel filters for engines equipped with electronic fuel injection. Filters made of this material avoid fuel leaking risk thru their housings, caused by cracks derived from electrostatic charges build up within the filter. These electrostatic charges are caused by high velocity fuel flow passing thru the filter media.Additionally, the material presents, since it is a polymer, characteristics of low density and high moldability. Also the electric phenomenon is described in this paper.
