- The continuously variable transmission with infinite ratio range could be utilized in automotive industries for automatic change gear without the need of the friction clutch. In this work we study the performance of a mid passenger car provided with Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT). By means of a simulation model we evaluate the vehicle's fuel consumption with the hypothesis to consider the value of IVT's ratio speed that minimizes the specific fuel consumption. Furthermore the IVT's performance is compared with that of more traditional configurations.
