- Performance parameters for application of sintered metallic and heat-resistant carbon friction facings to oil cooled clutches for heavy duty service vehicles are presented. Design factors to improve performance and durability of opposing discs are discussed. Future requirements for increased energy absorption beyond capability of currently available friction material is anticipated and reinforced TFE material is proposed to satisfy these requirements.
