Abstract
Content
At Bemidji, Minn., it was demonstrated in a controlled field test that late model U. S. diesel trucks have critical fuel systems for cold weather operation. These vehicles are cloud point limited and will not operate when the fuel temperature is slightly below the cloud point. With minor revisions, the fuel systems of four of the five Bemidji test vehicles can give good winter performance. The revisions enabled these trucks to operate flawlessly on flow improved, high cloud point fuels (+ 10 F to + 16 F) to ambient temperatures as low as − 30 F.
