Flight Control Systems Go Digital: More than a Binary Mechanization of Analog Predecessors

The application of digital technology to the design of automatic flight control systems for commercial transports will yield significant benefits to the airlines. This paper identifies some of the limitations of present-day analog flight-control systems. It explains why these limitations exist, and how they can be overcome by digital integrated system mechanizations.
