Authors Abstract
Content
This paper presents a discussion of the stress-range fatigue-design concept, including the results for 77 welded and cold-formed steel-sheet specimens exposed to constant-amplitude stress cycles with stress ratios of 0.02 to 0.34. The test specimens were fabricated from steels with yield strengths ranging from 30 through 80 ksi and included 7 types of details. The results are compared with stress-range curves used for welded steel-plate details. It appears that these curves can also be applied to the design of steel-sheet details such as those used in the ground-transportation and agricultural-equipment industries.
