VANIK discusses the limiting effect of maximum stalling-speed requirements on efficient design of high-speed transport airplanes and shows that deletion of this requirement would result in no difficult operational problems. He also shows that retention of fixed stalling-speed requirements will result in placing American manufacturers and operators at a serious disadvantage in the international field.
