Fabrication And Assembly Of Composite Rear Fuselage (CRF) Tooling And Manufacturing For The UH-60 Helicopter

Under Army contract with ATL Sikorsky has developed and static- tested a composite rear fuselage (CRF) for the BLACK HAWK Helicopter. The objectives of this mantech program was a 35% cost savings and a 10% weight savings over the existing metal structure. The paper will describe how the following were used to meet the program objectives. Under IR&D funding a risk reduction program was performed to study both tooling and manufacturing concepts.
