Authors Abstract
Content
This paper discusses a current research activity having a goal to acquire gear noise and vibration data from a broad variety of vehicle transmission applications. The data is analyzed using currently available digital signal analysis techniques and the effect of speed and torque on the dynamic behavior of the systems is studied. Various displays for the effective representation of the acquired dynamic data are shown.
A major goal of this work is to develop a database for dynamic model comparisons and future dynamic model development in our quest to ultimately do a better job of noise and vibration prediction for all types of transmissions.
