An Experimental Analysis of Rod Seal Leakage

Rod seal leakage in mobile equipment cylinders can vary with changes in operating conditions. This paper provides an experimental analysis of rod seal leakage. Factorial experiments are utilized to evaluate the effect of changes in service conditions and important seal characteristics on dynamic rod seal leakage. Comparisons are made to theoretical expectations.
