- A rapid rise in the use of new tools in engineering departments is taking place. New software has been developed with capabilities to accept CAD system outputs on a variety of low cost desktop computer platforms. These new developments permit all those concerned with product design to review the work of the designer during the design cycle.Beyond the design cycle, use of CAD systems output can now be used as the basis for developing graphic and textual instructions for manufacturing. Furthermore, the same software tool permits electronic excising, editing, and transmitting any part of a CAD image to technical publications. It can also be used to send engineering detail to remote areas.
