Authors Abstract
Content
The results of elevated gear characteristics in P/M gears reduces both the noise and wear in a gear train. This results in longer life, which allows the use of P/M in applications that were not possible before.
Errors in the tooth composite (lead, involute, tooth to tooth error and pitch line runout to the inside diameter) are what generates rattle or noise, and the interference which causes wear with increased loading.
