Electrification continues to be growing trend in vehicular applications. Current study shows a holistic system approach for the design & integration of the electric powertrain in agriculture tractor applications. It includes study & benchmarking of system architecture as per application requirement. Once System architecture is designed then communication between various EV components are established with required protocols. Electric power flow architecture is built for identifying communication and power flow lines. System voltage is selected based on components availability and optimum EV components performance. Further comprehensive study is done on functional components for an electric powertrain, which includes electric drives, batteries & controllers. EV components selection & their design approach is developed for different field applications. One prototype electric tractor is built for testing on dynamometer. Each EV component functional performance is verified experimentally on PTO test lab. Various parameters like Battery current, voltage, motor current, voltage, winding temperature and controller temperature is also measured. There is acceptable correlation observed between simulated PTO power and experimental test results.
