In this study THD (Thermo hydrodynamic) model is used and the Reynolds equation, the energy equation of film and the energy equation of bearing shell are solved as coupled equations.
It is investigated the effects of bearing diameter, bearing width, piston mass, connecting rod mass and oil viscosity on minimum film thickness, maximum film pressure and power loss.
It is shown that bearing width has more effect on minimum film thickness than others. Bearing width and diameter have more effect on maximum pressure and power loss, then others. Piston and connecting rod masses have less effect s on performance.
Viscosity of oil increases slightly minimum film thickness, maximum film pressure and power loss.
