In January 2014, Airbus Helicopters achieved EASA type certification of the H145. The H145 development program entails a significant upgrade from the EC145. The comprehensive changes with respect to dynamics and external acoustics required the application of an extensive validation program. This paper gives a detailed overview of this validation program; from the design stage, through certification until entry into service. A coherent and logical development methodology was applied, relying heavily on the use of numerical tools validated by using the results of laboratory, ground and flight testing. The improved acoustic footprint due to the Fenestron® tail rotor system, and the investigations with respect to aeromechanic stability margins due to the new structure and engine control laws will be presented. Additionally, the drive train dynamics as well as the new cabin active vibration control system will be discussed in detail.
