The paper considers a possibility of using a tractor front axle hydro-pneumatic suspension with single-acting cylinders and automatic level control. A study with the MSC.ADAMS simulation software has shown that such suspension combined with a preset suspension kinematic scheme on a swinging subframe does not prove itself, since it brings no improvement of the vibration level indicators and steering response of the tractor under a wide range of vertical loads. A reduction of vibration levels was observed at tractor driving modes with higher vertical loads - front implements as well as front load with rear implements. In this case, the probability of hitting bump stops and the driver's comfort are highly dependent on the damping in the suspension, defined by a controllable hydraulic restriction.
