To estimate quality of the technological process organization of the Bell and Sabatier type reaction the dissipation function (the generalized production of entropy for nonlinear systems) is proposed. It is based on the directly measured quantities and provides for the global approach to the study of multifunctional catalytic system.
Here the invariance conditions are automatically fulfilled as well as the boundary conditions for balance of mass, motion and energy. The built dissipation function exposes contribution of the process components - diffusion, convection, chemical reaction. It develops a mechanism of the mentioned factors interaction for the different flow rates, temperatures and the components ratio in the gaseous mixtures.
The dissipation functions reflects the system structure created when the stationary state is reached. The transition process shapes a system structure which in the stationary state is kept by the ultimate equilibrium state. The negative value of the dissipation function can be considered as the system stability margin.
