Content
In this study it is compared among three kinds of modeling of connecting rod hydrodynamic bearings.
These models are: HD (Hydrodynamic), THD (Thermo-Hydrodynamic) and THD (with thermal distortion of bearing shell due to transferred heat from oil to shell).
For simulation, it needs to solve equations of two parts (fluid and solid) of bearing simultaneously. Simulation is done with a program (BEARINGSIM) that has been written in MATLAB and calculation of thermal strain is done with ANSYS.
It is shown that HD model has a great error in minimum and power loss prediction, and THD model has smaller error but THD (with thermal distortion) is more exact model.
