Abstract
Content
The EPA has established stringent requirements for levels of particulates emitted from the exhaust of diesel passenger cars.
This paper summarizes six years of development activities directed towards reduction of diesel passenger car particulates. A series of conceptual approaches have been experimentally evaluated, leading to development of a regenerative particulate trap. Alternate trapping material investigations, regeneration systems, and total trap systems are reviewed. The current status of this development and required technical needs are identified.
