Abstract
Content
This paper introduces a novel methodology for evaluating windshield wetting (rain) levels by leveraging sensor fusion approach combined with advanced computer vision applications. The proposed method aims to enhance the traditional wetting detection systems by providing an alternative or granular classification of various wetting conditions. We will discuss the challenges encountered during the development and validation phases, including variability in rain intensity, droplet dynamics, and environmental factors. Furthermore, the evaluation process of critical parameters influencing wetting detection accuracy will be presented, detailing the metrics used for performance assessment. Initial results from experimental evaluations demonstrate the efficacy of the new method in diverse wetting scenarios, and an in-depth analysis of challenging edge cases, such as mist, glare, and partial wetting, will be provided. This research contributes to the driver experience.
