A high fidelity flight simulation model of the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior has been developed at Georgia Tech. This model uses a physically based object oriented modeling environment (Flightlab™). The model is designed to meet the U.S. Army’s requirement for simulation models with a high degree of reconfigurability and reusability. The OH-58D model is based on the blade element approach and can provide a high level of fidelity for simulation. This model can be readily parallelized for real-time execution on parallel computers. This paper describes some of the features of Flightlab models and details the approach taken in arriving at the OH-58D model. The proposed model validation effort is also discussed. Some preliminary trim/performance results are presented for hover and low speed flight.
