- Crystal Oscillators are generally used in the high precision frequency application of satellite hardware for navigational aids. The required precision frequency of the crystal oscillator is affected under the dynamic loads. Mechanical isolators can be used to isolate the crystal oscillator assembly from the base induced vibration. Room Temperature Vulcanized Silicone Rubber is selected as material for isolator due to inherent good damping property. Geometric configuration of isolator is optimized in iterative manner based on the dynamic characteristics obtained from Finite Element Analysis and Low-Level tests on engineering model. The finalized configuration is subjected to qualification level sine and random vibration and shock test to check the mechanical integrity of isolator under dynamic loads.
