- A significant portion of greenhouse gas and criteria air contaminant emissions in Canada can be attributed to off-road sources. This sector is also the least well understood of the transportation sectors and significant uncertainties exist in the inventory estimates. Understanding how this equipment is used in the real world and better emissions estimates are critical components of both improving emission inventories and reducing emissions from the sector. This study is the first phase of a program to collect activity data and measure emissions from off-road engines under real world conditions.
