Abstract
Content
Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz introduced in 1979 a new big bore engine family, the BVM 628 series
In the few years of its existence, the engine family has gained wide acceptance in the market.
This is due to consistent efforts in the design of an engine tailored to customers' needs, and the excellent performance in MDO- and heavy fuel operation.
This performance is highlighted by fuel economy, ease of maintenance and long service life of socalled working parts. Since it's appearance several improvements were made. The paper describes besides basic design features some of the later developments to improve fuel consumption and heavy fuel capability.
