This paper will discuss the development and implementation of two systems. Appearance Models and Environmental Gages, which successfully attained verification of the total vehicle interior including carpeting, seating, trim and instrument panel prior to prototype and pilot vehicle build.
The first stage is a CAD-CAM controlled representation of all aesthetic Class “A” surfaces to Engineering Design intent including joint lines, textures, fasteners, graphics, etc.
The second stage is fabricated to 100% nominal design, Body-In-White interior sheet metal surfaces which facilitate design check of fit, finish, function and design intent of physical trim parts.
