Development of Avionic Systems for Future Helicopters

MBB is in the process of establishing an advanced total system simulator including a digital visual system (CGI) which will be used commonly for high performance fixed wing and helicopter development. In addition already available systems are flight tested on a special Bo 105 test helicopter. The main features and capabilities of both development tools will be described. A status report on the most important investigations, such as - night vision sensors for sighting and piloting applications - mm-wave radar obstacle warning system - modern display systems - central control unit will be presented. An outlook for the integration of such mission oriented systems for future helicopters will be given.
