- Design of valve train systems for recent automotive diesel engines trends towards four-valve and roller-follower type. Accordingly, camshafts to be used in these engines are required to endure higher contact pressure due to rolling contact which is accompanied by occasional sliding. This paper describes composite type assembled camshafts which have successfully been developed with excellent results of light weight, reduced cost and superior durability.
