Authors Abstract
Content
The latest introduced wheel loader model from VME is the Michigan L50B. It is a small loader, in the power class 59-73 kW (80-99 Hp). It is designed to be a versatile machine for a vast variety of jobs using a lot of different attachments (e.g. bucket, pallet fork, material handling arm, etc.).
Compared to earlier loader models in the same size, some new technologies have been introduced. A closed center load sensing hydraulic system using Vickers CMX valves for implement control. Axles with fully hydraulically operated wet circulation cooled disc brakes, hydrostatic transmission and a new linkage for the lifting unit are some examples.
THE PURPOSE of this paper is to describe the objectives that were established when the project was started and to discuss some of the technical solutions that were chosen. To get an idea about the size of the machine that is being discussed, refer to Appendix 1 and figure 1.
