Development of a high powered, economical four-valve engine, Toyota 4A-GE

An engine must achieve both high power to ensure good drivability and low fuel consumption. With this as the target we developed a new 4-valve engine.

This paper describes the investigation and development of the power, fuel economy, and response of the 4A-GE, a 4-valve engine installed in the new Toyota Corolla Coupe.
