Abstract

Operational characteristics such as high efficiency, low noise, reduced operating costs and low pilot workload pose significant challenges to the NOTAR™ fan designer. A simple lightweight device is designed that effectively addresses these challenges. Each element of the fan is optimized by a full understanding of the physics involved and, within the given constraints, manipulation of the physics to work to the designer’s advantage.
