This paper introduces a motor control method to suppress a surge, which is a vibration and makes the ride feeling worse, in an Electric Vehicle (EV) or a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). A motor can generate torque more quickly than an Internal Combustion Engine. The surge, however, occurs along with the quickly generated the torque. Accordingly, there is the risk of a surge occurring. Therefore, developing a motor control method that reduces the surge is very important. The proposed method needs no additional sensors and actuators, because the method applies a traction motor as the sensors and actuators.
