Agriculture remains the backbone of India’s economy, with a majority of farmers operating on small and fragmented landholdings. However, most agricultural machinery available in developed nations is unsuitable for these conditions due to high costs and large sizes. To address these challenges, this project introduces the Design and Fabrication of a Micro-hybrid Agricultural Machine (Mini-tractor)—a 7 HP, multi-purpose, off-road agricultural vehicle tailored for small-scale farmers.
The mini-tractor is designed to perform various farming operations, including ploughing, weeding, cultivation, and pesticide spraying. A key innovation in this system is the integration of solar-powered spraying technology, reducing dependency on fossil fuels and lowering operational costs. Its modular design allows easy attachment and detachment of implements, making it highly versatile for different agricultural tasks. Additionally, the mini-tractor can be used for local transportation and material handling, further increasing its utility.
With a focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, and off-road performance, the mini-tractor is engineered to operate efficiently on uneven terrains, ensuring stability and ease of maneuverability in diverse field conditions. The patented design, recognized by the Government of India, promotes sustainable agriculture by reducing fuel consumption, labor costs, and environmental impact, making modern mechanization accessible to economically weaker farmers. This innovation paves the way for cost-effective, eco-friendly, and scalable agricultural solutions that align with India’s long-term goal of sustainable farming and rural development.
