A revolutionary new high-speed rotorcraft concept is being developed at the McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company (MDHC). The concept, known as the Canard Rotor/Wing, is a stopped rotor, reaction drive concept, capable of low-speed rotary-wing operations and high-speed forward flight The evolution of the design is described as are the applications and attributes of the concept. Finally, the Canard Rotor/Wing sizing is presented for ground attack and unmanned aerial vehicle missions.
