Authors Abstract
Content
The present lack of chassis uniformity among different makes of trucks forces the service body manufacturer either to produce a greater number of standard models or to modify standard service bodies to fit individual chassis.
The problems created by the wide range of cab-to-rear axle lengths for a particular weight truck chassis, for example, could be eliminated by all chassis manufacturers having one common length for each weight class. Other recommendations made include: the elimination of the drop frame chassis and the standardization of frame width and length for a particular weight class chassis. Fuel tank locations are also discussed.
