- The BR700 employs derivative technology and the ‘family’ concept to ensure an economic return to its developers, and its widespread acceptance in the market place. The adoption of derivative technology minimises technical and hence programme risks, reduces development costs and time-to-market, and yet still offers incrementally improved performance. The ‘common core’ family concept amortises the cost of core development over a series of engines, and reduces the cost-of-ownership through the economies of scale.
