Definition of Handling Qualities and Agility Requirements for UK Future Battlefield Lift Helicopters

This paper describes the development of handling qualities and agility requirements for the UK future battlefield lift helicopter fleets and describe how the requirements have been tailored from a variety of proven sources, notably Def-Stan 00-970 and ADS-33E-PRF, to meet the needs of the programme. The paper outlines the application of systems engineering processes within the UK approach to capability-based "Smart Procurement" and uses this background to form a framework within which the handling qualities and agility requirements are detailed.
