Abstract
Content
A new practical test method for quantification of frequency dependent vibration damping of car bodies by sound insulating layers was developed and tested.
Flat sheet metal covered with a sound insulating layer is exposed to bending vibrations in a broad frequency range.
When exited at constant velocity, the quotient of the global vibrational energy on the sheet and that of it's exitation point gives a figure for the influence of the insulation layer on the damping of the steel sheet.
