- Weighing-In-Motion is the term for weighing vehicles at normal traffic speeds. The first developments were made in the United States about 30 years ago. In the late nineteen fifties, the European countries England, France, and Germany started to weigh road vehicles at normal traffic speeds since there was a need for such data, for highway engineering. In Europe this process of weighing was called dynamic axle weighing (DAW).
