International Space Station (ISS) assembly and maintenance tasks created a need for an efficient manually propelled vehicle capable of being transformed into a stable work platform at an Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) work site. This vehicle, called a Crew and Equipment Translation Aid (CETA cart), gives the EVA crew the ability to transport the ISS modular replacement units and all the necessary EVA support equipment. After arrival at the work site, the CETA cart will be secured to the ISS rails providing a stable work platform. The manual translation, stability, ease of maintenance, and station assembly tasks pose a challenge to the development of the CETA cart. This paper will discuss the CETA cart's system design development and tests to validate the design phase.
