Authors Abstract

Allison Gas Turbine Division, General Motors Corporation has produced over 20, 000 Model 250 gas turbine engines. While the major use of the engine to date has been the turboshaft version for helicopters, many turboprop applications exist and numerous new applications of the turboprop version are in process in the international market. Based on the positive reception of the turboprop engine, Allison has begun a marketing program for the engine in the domestic fixed-wing aircraft market. A major effort to date is the conversion by Allison of a Beech-craft Bonanza A-36 for use in demonstrations of the marked performance improvements with this new powerplant.
