- A computer-based package has been developed for the analysis and synthesis of machine elements, such as linkages, cams, gears, bearings, transmission shafting, brakes and clutches and springs. The package can also be used for the design of an entire system containing a satisfactory combination of basic elements. The major distinguishing aspects of this work are (1) the large variety of elements contained in one package which facilitates the design of systems of components, (2) simplicity of use, (3) complete interactivity with computer graphics and (k) ease of extending the package to include new elements or to modify the selection procedures of existing elements.
