Abstract
Content
The Moldflex Seating System is an integral combination of seat springs and frame; made from the new breed of high glass content long fiber thermoplastics. Curvilinear slots in the seat act as cantilever action spring segments. The thickness of material, number of slots, and width of the slots provide a wide range of spring rates to achieve the comfort curve required. The one piece design eliminates a number of problems found in conventional seating such as high assembly cost, high density of foam to distribute the weight over the wire springs, and the protective barrier between the wire spring and the foam. The Moldflex Seating System also provides such advantages as no squeaking, low profile, corrosion resistance and approximately a 40% weight savings over steel.
