- Development of composite assembled cam shafts for small engines offers up to 20 to 40% lower weight compared to traditional as cast cam shafts. This is achieved via utilizing precision steel tube with net shape PM cam lobes and drive gear elements. This weight saving, in addition to reducing overall weight of the valve train, reduces inertia and hence offers potential improvements in fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Combining the latest heat shrink assembly technology with PM lobes and drive elements offers optimum cost-performance.
